Built in 1964 and converted to a
cooperative in 1984, the Townsley is located at
245 East 35th Street between 2nd Avenue and 3rd
Avenue in Manhattan, New York. The building contains
115 apartments built in studio, one-bedroom, and
two-bedroom configurations. Two passenger elevators
serve the building's 14 stories, and stairways provide
additional access to all floors and the roof.
The Townsley boasts 24-hour doorman
service, as well as a full-time superintendent and
porter. Laundry facilities and storage areas are
located on the premises, and roof access is available
during daylight hours and special nighttime events
(such as the Fourth of July, when fireworks on the
East River can be seen up close and personal). The
building is also wired for high-speed Internet access,
telephone service from multiple local carriers,
and two television cable companies.
The hallways on all floors were
redone in 1997, and the lobby underwent extensive
renovation in 1998, which included the installation
of automatic sliding doors to the front entryway
of the building, and full air-conditioning in the
warm-weather months. Current plans include the renovation
of the courtyard in the rear of the building to
create a private patio/barbecue area for all the
building's residents.
We invite you to explore our website,
where you will find downloadable forms needed by
buyers, sellers, and renters of the building's apartments,
renovation procedures, information on the staff
and finances of the Townsley, and updates on the
building's current projects, as well as a few other
surprises.
Again, thanks for stopping by, and
welcome!
